Sunny skies, morning lows in upper 20s Monday in the Piedmont Triad

PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — A cold and rainy end to Thanksgiving Weekend in the Piedmont Triad. Temperatures remain in the low 40s through the remainder of the evening with clouds lingering through the early overnight hours. Scattered showers linger through about 8 p.m. before tapering off and clearing out.

Overnight Sunday into Monday, skies will clear and temperatures will fall, leaving us cold and sunny to start the week. Morning lows will be in the upper 20s with sunny skies. While we’ll enjoy the sunshine for the first half of the day, clouds will begin to roll back in for the late afternoon and evening hours with afternoon highs reaching the mid-40s.

Late Monday night into Tuesday morning, rain returns with increasing rain chances through Tuesday morning and lingering showers through midday. The majority of the Piedmont Triad will be above freezing, meaning just a cold rain. However, the northwestern portion of NC, including Ashe, Alleghany, Surry and Wilkes counties, will have the potential to see freezing rain during the early morning hours on Tuesday before transitioning to a cold rain. Temperatures will be in the mid-30s on Tuesday morning and afternoon highs reach the upper 40s.
