In late 2024, celebrity chef Guy Fieri was involved in two unrelated incidents: a large-scale tequila theft and a leg injury. The first incident involved the theft of over 24,000 bottles of Santo Tequila, a brand Fieri co-owns with Sammy Hagar. The shipment disappeared between Guadalajara and Pennsylvania after criminals used false documents and technology to reroute the trucks. Only one truck was later found in Los Angeles with about 11,000 bottles. The remaining bottles are still missing.
The theft caused significant financial losses. Fieri stated on 60 Minutes that Santo Tequila lost its holiday inventory and had to lay off employees. The incident drew attention to the rise in cargo theft targeting alcohol shipments.
Soon after, Fieri was injured while filming. He slipped on a metal staircase and tore his quadriceps tendon, which required surgery and an eight-week recovery. The injury was confirmed as accidental. However, the timing led to speculation and jokes on social media about a possible connection between the two events…
