DES MOINES, Iowa — The Thanksgiving weekend snow storm resulted in an average of 6-8 inches of snow across the state which quickly turned Iowa’s roads into a covered snowy mess. Officials share their final reports on crashes and calls this weekend.
The Des Moines Police Department reports that between 6 a.m. Saturday and 6 a.m. Sunday they responded to 423 calls for service. The DMPD says despite the winter storms making travel difficult only 44, or 11%, of received calls were for crashes. Police say three minor injuries were reported during this time period.
The Iowa State Patrol says they responded to a total of 856 calls for service from noon on Friday till noon on Sunday. Troopers responded to 646 Motorists Assists and 210 Total Crashes. During those calls 190 property damage incidents and 20 personal injuries were recorded…
