Wrong-way vehicle on Brown County ramp causes head-on crash, man from Two Rivers dies

NEW DENMARK, Wis. (WFRV) – A 37-year-old man from Two Rivers died as a result of injuries sustained in a head-on crash on a Brown County ramp with a wrong-way driver on Thanksgiving, and deputies believe alcohol was a factor.

According to the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the ramp from I-43 south to the ramp of STH 96/Shirley Road in New Denmark around 5:05 p.m. on Thursday, November 27, for a head-on, two-vehicle crash.

The initial report indicated that there were three people trapped in the first vehicle and one person trapped in the second vehicle. When deputies arrived on scene, they discovered that an SUV had gone the wrong way on the ramp from I-43 to STH 96.

Deputies say the SUV crashed head-on with a southbound van that was exiting the highway. Two males and one female had to be extricated from the van, all with serious injuries. The driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries. Everyone involved was taken to a local hospital for treatment…
