LUBBOCK, Texas — Fresh off a dominating win over West Virginia, Texas Tech moved up in the latest Associated Press poll Sunday.
The voters pushed the Red Raiders into the top five for the first time this season, with the team slotting at No. 5. Furthermore, its the first time since 2008 that the AP poll has placed them inside the top five. Texas Tech got some help from former rivals, as Texas defeated Texas A&M to push the Aggies out of its No. 3 ranking. In the AFCA / USA Today Coaches poll, the Red Raiders were just outside of the top five, coming in at No. 6.

The newest AP ranking mirrors the official rankings from the College Football Playoff selection committee, which has placed Texas Tech at No. 5 for the past two weeks. The newest batch of rankings from the committee will be released on Tuesday, with the Red Raiders expected to move up due to the aforementioned loss by Texas A&M.
