Two-alarm fire leaves resident displaced

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Fire Department responded to a residential fire in the 1300 block of S. Genois Street on Friday, Nov. 28.

At around 9:41 p.m., NOFD units arrived on the scene at a single-story, shotgun double at 1332-34 S. Genois St. Firefighters said the fire at the residence was “heavily” towards to back of the home.

When conducting interior and exterior attacks of the fire, NOFD firefighters looked for residents. According to the NOFD, a second alarm was requested, as a precautionary measure, at 9:48 p.m., as the fire extended to an unoccupied double to the left of the home.

With 16 NOFD units, along with 45 Fire Operations personnel, the incident was under control at 10:09 p.m…
