First Alert Weather: Most hazardous weather of the weekend moves in overnight into Monday morning

ANCHORAGE, AK (Alaska’s News Source) – The first of two winter storms is making the heaviest impacts across Southcentral overnight tonight and into Monday morning before the second storms moves through, bringing winter weather across the YK Delta, all the way to the Yukon Flats.

Southeast and Southcentral will face their heaviest rain in the overnight hours, leading to dangerous road conditions for Monday mornings commute. Due to these road hazards, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Mat-Su into Anchorage until 6 a.m. Monday. Freezing rain will hit the Mat-Su Valley the hardest as nearly 0.2 inches of freezing rain is forecasted, paired with 1 to 3 inches of snow. Freezing rain will glaze over roads tonight before high temperatures tomorrow will rise above freezing, leading to a thawing and freezing pattern until Wednesday.
