Firefighters rescue elderly hiker after 10-foot fall in ʻĀina Haina

ʻĀINA HAINA, Hawaiʻi (KHON2) – A man in his 80s was rescued after falling along the Wailupe Gulch Trail in Aina Haina today, Nov. 30, according to the Honolulu Fire Department.

Hiker in his 50s rescued from Diamond Head Crater Trail

Firefighters said they received a 911 call at 11:32 a.m. for an injured hiker. Six fire units with 18 personnel responded to the area, while the first crew arrived at 11:41 a.m. and hiked up the trail to reach the man.

Officials said the man suffered a 10-foot fall and could not make his way down the trail on his own.

The hiker was then airlifted by HFD’s helicopter, Air 1, to the landing zone, where EMS took over care at 12:43 p.m.
