Some Ohioans concerned by Department of Education’s move toward dismantlement

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — The Department of Education is taking key steps toward dismantling itself, worrying some Ohio education groups and parents.

On Nov. 18, Secretary of Education Linda McMahon announced it will partner with other federal agencies to deliver funded programs, a key step in the promised dismantling of the Department of Education. In Ohio, education advocates warn this could complicate funding for schools and anti-discrimination enforcement.

“Ensuring a brighter future for our children should be a top priority for any administration,” the Ohio Education Association, the state teachers’ union, said. “Instead, this administration is hacking away at the very protections and services our students need.”
