UPDATE: Monday, December 1, 2025 @ 8:50 a.m.: An early morning fire at a restaurant along Munday Mill Road in Oakwood heavily damages the structure and leaves part of the roadway blocked for the early morning commute. Hall County Fire Rescue (HCFR) spokesperson Kimberlie Ledsinger told AccessWDUN through a press release Monday morning, December 1, 2025 that at approximately 1:30 a.m. HCFR responded to Krystal in Oakwood for reports of a commercial fire. First arriving units discovered heavy smoke emitting from the roof. Crews began to search the inside of the building and it was empty at the time of the fire.
A HVAC unit was found engulfed above the kitchen on the roof. HCFR personnel had the bulk of the fire knocked down within 20 minutes of receiving the 911 call.
No one was injured on scene and the remaining hot spots were located and extinguished. The specific cause of the fire is unknown at this time, and the Hall County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) and Oakwood Police Department assisted in securing the fire scene and Mundy Mill Road travel lanes through the morning hours during the cleanup efforts, with HCSO confirming all westbound travel lanes of Mundy Mill Road were reopened after 4:15 a.m…
