Soaking rain on the way Monday into Tuesday morning

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — November is ending dry for Huntsville, with a rainfall deficit nearing 1.60 inches. Heading into the first month of Meteorological Winter, the Tennessee Valley is about to see a nice soaking rain!

For record-keeping purposes, Meteorological Winter includes the months of December, January, and February.

A strong low-pressure system will track across the region Monday into Tuesday, bringing rain back to the Tennessee Valley. This system is forecast to bring the chance of snow showers and a wintry mix to Arkansas and Western Tennessee- those areas are under a Winter Weather Advisory.

Here in North Alabama, we are on the warm side of the system, so we are expected to see a soaking rain event. Rain will begin to move in on Monday afternoon, with the heaviest rainfall forecast for the overnight hours.

The main impacts this system will pose will be pockets of moderate to heavy rain late Monday night. Rain totals are expected to range from 0.75 to 1.50 inches, with isolated higher totals possible.
