Hartselle considers ordinance to allow Sunday alcohol sales

The Hartselle City Council on Nov. 25 introduced an ordinance that would allow the sale and service of alcoholic beverages on Sundays inside the city limits, a proposal Mayor Missy Evans said is aimed at supporting local restaurants, attracting new investment and boosting revenue.

Evans presented the measure during the council meeting, explaining that the ordinance would amend Section 39 of the city’s Code of Ordinances to authorize alcohol sales on Sundays, except between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m.

“This ordinance will basically allow authorization for the selling of alcoholic beverages to include Sunday,” Evans said. “This is simply just an addition to what we already have in place for Monday through Saturday, just adding Sunday to that as well.”…
