OTSEGO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Police say they have positively identified the remains found near Otsego last month, though the death is still under investigation.
The remains discovered Nov. 13 are that of a missing 48-year-old Allegan County woman, Michigan State Police said Monday. MSP did not release her name.
MSP said it is awaiting medical examiner findings and lab test results to determine exactly how she died.
MSP: Otsego-area remains thought to be one person
The remains were found in the area of M-89 north of 106th Avenue in Otsego Township. MSP said troopers were called there to check on the woman, who was living in a camper behind a home but hadn’t been seen for a while. MSP 1st Lt. Chuck Christensen previously told News 8 that troopers couldn’t find her, so it became a missing persons investigation. As they started searching the area, they found human remains.
