CAIRO, N.Y. (NEWS10)– An autopsy conducted on 69-year-old Roger Pitt Sr., has determined his cause of death. According to a medical examiner and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, his death has been officially ruled a homicide due to sharp force trauma to the neck.

Pitt’s remains were found on his property in Cairo Wednesday, after deputies announced they were searching for him. He was initially reported missing by family members on November 18, after his family said he gathered his belongings and left the area in his 1987 Mercedes-Benz.
According to investigators, the initial reports made by his son and family, were not consistent with their findings, leading to the search warrants.
