New report sheds light on incarcerated who committed crimes as kids

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (7News) — A new report offers insight into the lives of incarcerated individuals who committed crimes as children.

Researchers with an advocacy organization known as Human Rights for Kids administered surveys to more than 2,200 incarcerated individuals in more than 38 states.

The respondents had committed crimes as children and were prosecuted as adults. The responses show many of them experienced significant trauma, exploitation, and neglect before they reached the criminal justice system…
