On November 26, 2025, Mayor Sharon Tucker welcomed the Fort Wayne Fire Department’s 98th and 99th recruit classes at the Public Safety Academy. The 98th class has 14 recruits from the Fort Wayne Fire Department. The 99th class has 16 recruits from the same department. Two firefighters from the Huntington Fire Department also joined the training.
In the 98th class, 21% of recruits are from ethnic minority groups. This includes three males who are Black, Hispanic or Latino, and Asian, and one white female.
