Two families on the far east side of Indianapolis have been left without homes after a fire tore through a pair of townhomes yesterday afternoon. The Indianapolis Fire Department responded to the incident in the 10900 block of Penwell Way, located near the intersection of East 38th Street and North German Church Road, as reported by FOX59. First responders arrived on the scene around 1:59 p.m. to tackle the heavy fire emanating from an attached garage.
The situation prompted a concerted effort by IFD and the Lawrence Fire Department to aggressively fight to prevent the fire from spreading into an adjacent home. According to a WISH-TV report, this prompt response kept damage to the surrounding structures at a minimum. No human injuries were reported, but sadly firefighters encountered a seriously injured dog amidst the chaos. An update from the scene indicated that the animal was administered oxygen before being taken to Noah’s Animal Hospital, where it has since showed signs of improvement…
