Several more residents wrote in to oppose a new Home Depot that will be built next to a retirement community in southwest Ocala. Here are a few more of those opinions:
“I have to agree with others who have written about putting Home Depot right outside the main gate at On Top of the World (OTOW). The traffic at 99th Street and State Road 200 has increased since putting in a Sprouts and Chipotle and there is no turning light at that exit from OTOW on to SR 200. HCA also wants to put in an emergency facility also right outside our gate. Are the people who plan these things not considering how we as OTOW residents feel about this? Traffic is already a nightmare” – Patricia Crowe, Ocala
“There are a lot of things happening on this side of the town. I am pleased seeing its growth: Tropical Smoothie, Sprouts, Chipotle etc. Home Depot is a good store for home needs, etc. I just don’t understand why another Home Depot is being built at this location. There is already one at 3300 SW Terrace in Ocala – practically down the road. Since we have so many people coming here from other states with children and with new schools being built, why couldn’t there be an investment in our community, on this side of town, that serves as a multipurpose facility for the youth as well as older adults? Youth activities, after school programs, adult programs, exercise, learning opportunities, etc. I think it would definitely help our community.” – Deborah Horne, Liberty Triangle…
