Heavy Rain and Colder Weather Expected in Houston Area Early December—Residents Advised to Prepare for Possible Street Flooding

A wet week is expected in Southeast Texas, especially in the Houston area and along the coast. Significant rainfall is forecast for both Monday and Thursday. The National Weather Service (NWS) reports that 1 to 2 inches of rain are likely today, with some areas possibly seeing up to 3 inches. This may cause minor street flooding, particularly in places with poor drainage or construction.

Colder conditions are expected tonight and into Tuesday morning. Wind chill values may drop into the lower to mid-30s, with temperatures around 40°F and brisk northerly winds. Rain chances will decrease briefly before increasing again on Wednesday afternoon. Another period of heavy rain is likely on Thursday and Thursday night.

The second round of rain is expected as a surface low forms near the coast and a cold front moves in from the northwest. High moisture and an upper-level disturbance will bring widespread rain, with some areas again receiving up to 3 inches.
