Cold and calm before the winter storm

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Meteorologist Jake Dunne says it is a frigid start to our Sunday with wake-up temperatures in the teens. However, when you factor in the breeze it feels like the single digits, both above and below zero. Later today will not be much better as mostly cloudy skies keep temperatures in the upper 20s and lower 30s, or twenty degrees below normal.

Another fast-moving, relatively weak weather maker will sweep across the state on Monday. Light snow is likely starting tonight in the northwest corner of the state, and across the rest of Kansas tomorrow. Accumulation of an inch or two is expected between I-70 and Highway 400, with lighter amounts of an inch or less farther north and south.

Temperatures will trend higher on Tuesday and Wednesday, into the lower to middle 40s before another cold front sweeps across Kansas late Wednesday into Thursday. No precipitation is expected with the front, and temperatures will only fall a few degrees into the upper 30s and lower 40s…
