Fort Collins buildings will have to trim energy use if plan gets OK

The owners of large commercial buildings in Fort Collins would be required to meet certain energy use targets under a proposal up for a City Council vote Dec. 2.

The creation of building performance standards would require the owners of any existing commercial building that is 10,000 square feet or more and not meeting the energy use target set by the city to take steps to reduce energy consumption…
