Rescuers use rope to pull suspect from culvert in Eugene

Fire rescue crews on Sunday, Nov. 30, used a rope to pull a 41-year-old man from an underground culvert after he ran from police.

Police patrolling a private property near the end of Kintyre Street in north Eugene at about 2 p.m. were called over by a man, Nicholas Ian Tallman, whom an officer recognized as having multiple warrants for his arrest, Eugene police said in a statement.

Tallman then ran toward some railroad tracks and into a culvert that runs east from Kintyre Street toward Northwest Expressway beneath the railroad tracks, police said…
