HONOLULU (KHON2) – The Department of Planning and Permitting building permit counter on Oʻahu is closed this week as staff work to reduce a backlog of permit applications.
Construction work starting on Kapiʻolani Boulevard near Isenberg Street
The temporary closure limits in-person services and phone calls, but officials say it will help employees catch up on paperwork.
According to Ian Scheuring, the closure is also connected to a newer computer system, which has already shown improvements since launching in August.
