CARTA gathers community input for short and long term transit plans

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – As the Lowcountry continues to grow, the Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA) is kickstarting a project to improve efficiency in the metro area.

At a Monday evening open house, project leaders spoke with the community about short term and long term plans. Things like additional routes, and more frequent pickups were key ideas for people who attended.

“We’re in the traffic that everyone else is in,” transit planner Megan Ross said. “Since the pandemic, traffic patterns have changed and this is now our opportunity to look at those traffic patterns and adjust our schedules to make a more reliable service.”…
