PORTAGE, Mich. — Holiday travel and winter weather collided this week across West Michigan, with the City of Portage seeing about a foot of snow, just as a new snowplow tracking system launched on Monday.
The new platform, called Portage Traxx, lets residents see when their street was last plowed, what priority level it falls under, and even which plows, including creatively named trucks like Darth Blader and Plowzilla, are working nearby.
Adam Herringa, chief operating officer for Portage, said the heavy snow over the weekend showcased exactly why the city invested in the updated technology.
