Police identify man fatally struck at Knoxville McDonald’s on Thanksgiving

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The identity of a pedestrian who was struck and killed by a truck outside of a Knoxville McDonald’s on Thanksgiving has been released.

Knoxville police officers responded to the fast food restaurant on Millertown Pike at 9:30 a.m. Thursday where a pedestrian had been hit in the parking lot. Ronnie Day, 78, was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

Roane County Sheriff asks for information in death of man struck by car

No charges have been filed at this time. An investigation remains ongoing.

The driver remained at the scene and told officers he was attempting to avoid another vehicle in a tight space when he struck Day. Multiple witnesses also confirmed his statement, according to a Knoxville Police Department press release…
