NASHVILLE, Tenn (WZTV) — A safety warning for pedestrians: the risk of being hit by a car jumped 13% with the start of daylight-saving time last month according to a new report from the National Institutes of Health.
Research shows that the change in ambient light makes it harder for drivers to see pedestrians.
So far this year, 17 pedestrians have been killed on Nashville streets, down from 26 in 2024, a 34% decrease. Those 17 deaths are also less than half of the 36 pedestrians killed in 2023.
