Reports have emerged detailing owners of these facilities being ordered to pay substantial amounts in restitution for fraud. One such facility was even shut down due to a lack of basic utilities such as water and electricity, and it was discovered that it was not even registered. These sober living homes, designed to provide a safe and supportive environment for individuals recovering from substance abuse, have instead been accused of exploiting their residents for financial gain.
