Portland housing authority cuts staff amid budget uncertainty

Home Forward, the Portland-area housing authority, said Monday it will cut staff amid a $35 million budget deficit.

A spokesperson told The Oregonian/OregonLive that a dozen positions will be “impacted” by the fiscal year 2026 budget deficit, which the housing authority attributes to federal cutbacks and rapidly rising operations and maintenance costs across its affordable housing portfolio.
