Buffalo man pleads guilty for credit card scam

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man pleaded guilty on Tuesday for his role in a credit card scam that carries a penalty of up to 30 years in prison and a $1 million fine.

Prosecutors said Angel Valentin-Martinez, 34, worked alongside Daniel Plata Miranda to access the credit card accounts of individuals at Synchrony Bank, according to the Erie County District Attorney’s Office.

Prosecutors further allege that Martinez and Miranda passed through the bank’s verification process by using an existing account holder’s personal information. Several addresses of Synchrony Bank accounts were changed to addresses that Martinez and Miranda had access to, leading new credit cards to be shipped to Miranda’s P.O. Box in Rochester or Martinez’s address in Buffalo…
