Firefighters said the area between Pearl Road and Colburn Avenue was shut down around 12:45 p.m. through about 1:45 p.m. A nearby library was evacuated and no injuries have been reported.
At the time of closure, people are asked to stay away from the area as the power company worked to assess what led to the issue.
Cleveland Public Power is reportedly still on scene.
