For the last 15 years, Werner Books & Coffee has served up books of all kinds and drinks to accompany them. At the beginning of November, they had plans to organize a winter preparedness drive to collect supplies for the months ahead.
However, as the government shutdown dragged on, the owners of the bookstore quickly shifted to what the community needed.
