Brights Zoo discusses death of spotless giraffe Kipekee, thanks community for condolences

LIMESTONE, Tenn. (WJHL) — News Channel 11 spoke with Brights Zoo owner David Bright on Monday, days after the death of his zoo’s rare spotless giraffe, Kipekee, who made worldwide headlines when her birth was announced.

The zoo announced that Kipekee had died at just two years old on Wednesday. Bright told News Channel 11 that he scheduled a necropsy for the animal to hopefully gain insight into why she died.

“So, they took her to UT for necropsy,” he said. “Usually, that takes anywhere from three to seven days to get results. So we’re hoping midweek, those results are in, and we can kind of go from there to figure out what the actual cause of death would be.”

Bright said the community has showered the zoo with condolences and well-wishes…
