MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – As a part of the “One Big Beautiful Bill” Act, more Americans will now be required to prove they have a job in order to receive federal food assistance.
The previous cutoff was age 54, but now Americans up to 64 years-old must show proof they are either employed, volunteer, or participate in 80 hours of job training per month to receive SNAP benefits.
Other previously exempt groups like veterans, refugees, and the homeless also must now provide that documentation…
