Oldest bicycle manufacturer in US still makes them the old-fashioned way in Conway

CONWAY, S.C. (WPDE) — There are few things that are more iconic for a child to find under their Christmas tree than a new bicycle.

While Santa’s elves may have them beat up in the North Pole, America’s oldest bicycle manufacturer happens to be in Conway. Although, their ride didn’t start here.

“This company started in 1898 and it used to be on the site of the World Trade Center in Manhattan,” Al Vendetti, Worksman Cycles salesman, said. “After Manhattan, we moved to Brooklyn. From Brooklyn, we moved to Queens. We were in Queens since the 70s. Everything was okay, everything was good, but we were on three floors and that made it very difficult to run a bicycle factory.”…
