Prescribed burn scheduled for Wednesday at Jonathan Dickinson State Park in Hobe Sound

HOBE SOUND, Fla. (CBS12) — If Hobe Sound residents see smoke rising into the air on Wednesday, it’s due to a prescribed burn being conducted in the area.

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Jonathan Dickinson State Park will be conducting a prescribed burn starting Wednesday, December 3, if the weather permits.

The burn will consist of 275 acres of pine flatwoods adjacent to the Hobe Hills and Eaglewood neighborhoods. According to Jonathan Dickinson State Park, the burns are conducted when weather parameters are suitable, and the decision is made daily after reviewing the Predicted Fire Weather forecast for that particular day and obtaining a burn authorization from the Florida Forest Service…
