As snow fell for a second time in a week in Syracuse, City Auditor Alexander Marion said the city hasn’t issued any licenses for private snow removal contractors to operate in the city, despite a requirement for operators to have one.
Not doing so can result in a $150 fine.
According to Marion, the city’s snowplowing ordnance requires operators apply for a license annually at a cost of $50 for their first piece of equipment and $10 for each subsequent piece. They must also show proof of liability insurance, auto insurance, workers compensation insurance for employees, registration for all vehicles used, and copies of drivers licenses for each driver…
