Light Snow & Wintry Mix Thursday Morning

LUBBOCK, TX (KLBK) – KLBK Chief Meteorologist Jacob Riley has your Tuesday night weather update for December 2, 2025.

Tonight: Mostly clear. Low of 32°. Winds SW 10-15 MPH.Tomorrow: Partly cloudy. Breezy. High of 55°. Winds NE 15-20 MPH.

TONIGHT:

Temperatures are on track to fall below freezing along and north of the Highway 62/82 corridor overnight tonight through sunrise on our Wednesday. Lows will range anywhere from the low 20s for locations northwest of Lubbock, to the upper 30s for locations to the southeast! We will see a clear to mostly clear sky remain around the KLBK forecast area. Winds will be out of the southwest around 10-15 MPH. A cold front will begin to push into the northern South Plains and southern Texas Panhandle close to sunrise.

WEDNESDAY:

A cold front will sweep through the region on Wednesday, resulting in a range of high temperatures across the region. Temperatures will peak in the upper 40s over northern locations, with southern locations reaching in the low 60s! Clouds will increase across the area throughout the day, with a partly cloudy sky expected for most of the daytime hours. Winds will be out of the northeast behind the cold front, with sustained speeds of 15-20 MPH expected. As we head overnight Wednesday into the early morning hours of Thursday, wintry weather will begin to increase over northwestern areas. Light snow will start as soon as midnight for areas west of Interstate 27 and north of Highway 70. Accumulations will be possible, and will result in patchy black ice on area roadways. This activity will increase in coverage through sunrise on Thursday as lows cool into the 20s and 30s.

SHORT TERM FORECAST:

Snow showers will become more mixed with rain by midday on Thursday, before wrapping up shortly after lunchtime. Before sunset, we should see much more sunshine across the region. If any snow accumulation does occur on Thursday, it will melt away before sunset. All in all, some locations could see upwards of 1″ of accumulation at best. We are not likely to have any icy issues Thursday night into Friday morning. Highs on Thursday will peak in the 30s and 40s, with the 50s and 60s expected on Friday. A partly cloudy sky will return to the area on Friday. Winds will variate from the west-southwest to the west-northwest, with sustained speeds of 10-20 MPH continuing. Morning lows will remain in the 20s and 30s Friday morning.

EXTENDED FORECAST:

As we move into the weekend, a much drier and warmer pattern will take over. Highs will return to the 50s and 60s, with morning lows holding strong in the 20s and 30s. We will see a mostly clear to partly cloudy sky each day, with winds sustained around 10-20 MPH. Winds will variate in direction each day as some weak frontal boundaries move through the region. This fronts are not expected to bring any significant swings in temperature at this time, nor are they expected to bring in any precipitation.
