Man with warrants pulled from culvert under Eugene train tracks

A 41-year-old man was arrested the night of Nov. 30 after fleeing from police and hiding in a culvert for 5 hours at a private property near the end of Kintyre Street in Eugene.

Nicholas Ian Tallman had multiple warrants out for his arrest, according to the Eugene Police Department. Police were conducting a routine patrol on private property around 2 p.m. when Tallman, who was trespassing, called out to the officers and yelled as he ran away toward a set of railroad tracks.

Officers located Tallman in a culvert that ran east from Kintyre Street and under several sets of train tracks toward Northwest Expressway. He was about 100 to 150 feet into the culvert and out of sight, according to a Eugene Police Department news release…
