A teenage boy in Mesa found himself the victim of gun violence on Sunday in a mobile home park. Fox 10 Phoenix reports that the 16-year-old dialed 911 after being shot at least once in the parking lot at the south end of the community, near East Main Street and Gilbert Road. Despite the emergency, the assailant eluded immediate capture and has left authorities seeking leads.
At the scene, Mesa police found the teen alert and communicative. He reported not knowing the identity of the person who shot him. Officers rendered aid to the wounded boy, who, like Gage Anderson, observed being treated both front and back. “Like six cops had him by his pants and his shirt, holding him and putting him down,” Anderson told AZ Family. Nearby residents are familiar with the distress in their community. An individual whose sister lives within the park mentioned a history of break-ins and brawls. “There’s been a lot of break ins in the trailers and stuff like that. My sister was telling me they have a lot of fist fights on the weekends,” he said, choosing to remain anonymous.
The Mesa Police Department, as confirmed by both sources, continues to investigate the shooting. The severity of the teenage boy’s injuries, while he was declared conscious and alert at the hospital, remains undisclosed.
