Michelin-recommended Back Bay restaurant sued by employees

Three employees of La Padrona, the Back Bay restaurant recently spotlighted by the Michelin Guide, allege in a new lawsuit that the eatery illegally forced them to share tips with managers and other staff.

The big picture: Strict laws govern how gratuities can be distributed in Massachusetts, where only servers as well as other wait staff and bartenders are entitled to tips.

  • The lawsuit comes soon after La Padrona, which is located inside the Raffles Hotel, received a coveted recommendation in the inaugural Boston Michelin Guide.
