‘It was a very tough path’: Charlotte Mexican restaurant reopens after closing during Border Patrol operation

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Mexican restaurant that temporarily closed while Border Patrol made arrests throughout Charlotte is reopening with new security protocols.

Tacos El Nevado has reopened its three locations after being closed for more than a week. The businesses were closed after a longtime customer was stopped by Border Patrol agents in front of the restaurant on Central Avenue.

“It was very terrifying,” said Litzy Mali, the manager of Tacos El Nevado. “That hit very close to home because we all would always see that customer come in almost every week. I think that inflicted more fear for everybody seeing it right in front.”…
