ALPINE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A Newaygo County man is nearly $700,000 richer thanks to a lottery ticket purchased at “the luckiest store in Michigan.”
Party World on Alpine Avenue in Comstock Park has brought players some good luck over the years. The latest winner: a 29-year-old Newaygo County man, whose number was chosen as a $1 million winner in the Nov. 19 Super Raffle drawing.
The man, who chose to remain anonymous, said the odds inspired him to play. According to the Michigan Lottery’s website, the odds of winning a $1 million prize in the Super Raffle game are 1 in 175,000. For the $6 million grand prize, they drop to 1 in 350,000. Tickets cost $50 each.
“I drove by Party World, which advertises as the luckiest store in Michigan, so I stopped in to buy a Super Raffle ticket,” the man told the Michigan Lottery. “The day of the drawing, I got a call from my wife and thought something bad had happened because she was in tears, until she said: ‘You won $1 million on your Super Raffle ticket!’”
