KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A Knoxville police officer was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic assault in Sevier County, according to KPD.
The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office arrested Adam Barnett, a patrol officer in the East District, after allegations of a domestic altercation involving a family member, KPD said. Booking information shared by SCSO said he was taken into custody at 10:06 a.m. on December 1. He was off duty at the time.
KPD learned of the arrest Monday morning. Its Office of Professional Standards plans to conduct an internal administrative investigation. KPD suspended Barnett’s police powers and plans to place him on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
