GREENSBORO, N.C. — Guilford County took another major step in its multibillion-dollar effort to rebuild and modernize local schools on Thursday, as district leaders officially broke ground on the new Sternberger Elementary.
Crews began prepping the site on North Holden Road last week, installing erosion control measures and clearing trees to prepare the land for construction. That work set the stage for today’s ceremony — one of Guilford County Schools’ largest projects funded by voter-approved school bonds.
“Right now, I am amazed,” Sternberger Principal Lisa Williams told WFMY News 2. “I really am amazed, because when you come out here on site, you know what’s happening. But to see it in action now, it’s real and it’s here, and we are here today to celebrate it.”…
