Mazzaro’s Italian Market unveils 866-pound block of imported cheese

One of St. Pete’s tastiest holiday traditions is back. This morning, Mazzaro’s Italian Market officially unveiled and carved into an 866-pound block of cheese imported from Italy. The annual tradition has become a favorite, and blocks of the cheese are one of the most popular gifts in town.

This year’s torpedo-sized cheese block is an 866-pound hunk of Auricchio provolone aged for 22 months before being shipped to Mazzaro’s. Considered one of the finest styles of provolone in the world, Auricchio provolone is particularly sharp and is an excellent treat for St. Pete. If you’re interested, we recommend visiting soon. Once Mazzaro’s cuts the cheese, it will be in sharp demand.

The enormous dairy delight was delivered on a semi and brought into the store on a forklift, as Mazzaro’s documented on their Facebook page. You can expect the cheese to be a popular Christmas gift in St. Pete this year, and Mazzaro’s is always a great place to grab a present for anyone on your list.
