San Diego County to raise fees for camping, fishing and day-use at parks

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Officials with the County of San Diego Parks and Recreation announced Tuesday that a series of small fee increases will take affect on Jan. 2, 2026, impacting camping, fishing, boat rentals, as well as day-use and sports facility reservations.

The changes mark the second phase of a two-year adjustment plan that began in February 2025. Before that, park fees had not been updated in more than a decade, according to county officials.

Most of the upcoming increases amount to just a few dollars. For example, the nightly rate for a full-hookup campsite will rise from $40 to $42. Some other fees will see larger adjustments, including a $25 increase for reserving certain picnic areas.
