(KRON) — A cold case homicide involving a teenage girl that dates back 42 years is being reopened by the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office.

ACSO said that Kellie Jean Poppleton, 14, was found lying dead on the side of Kilkare Road in Sunol on Friday, Dec. 2, 1983.
Kellie was a student at the now-closed Conrad Noll Elementary School in Fremont. She was reportedly last seen on the corner of Darwin Drive and Fremont Boulevard, according to ACSO.
“Witnesses reported seeing a Black Pontiac Trans Am near the crime scene prior to Kellie’s body being found,” said the sheriff’s office in a social media post.
