San Francisco police are still searching for the 27-year-old anti-AI activist whose alleged threats led to the lockdown of OpenAI’s offices late last month, warning that he could be armed and dangerous.
Sam Kirchner, whose whereabouts have been unknown since Nov. 21, was in the midst of a mental health crisis when he threatened to go to several OpenAI offices in San Francisco to “murder people,” according to callers who notified police that day.
Two separate callers who said they were familiar with Kirchner told the San Francisco Police Department that he had previously expressed a desire to buy high-powered weapons to “fulfill these violent wishes,” according to a Nov. 21 bulletin sent to officers…
