Watervliet man sentenced in Hudson Shores Park stabbing

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A Watervliet man will serve several years in state prison for an alleged stabbing at Hudson Shores Park in June, according to the Albany County District Attorney’s Office. Fred Santiago, 47, was sentenced on Wednesday.

Santiago is accused of stabbing a person in the neck after an argument at around 10:45 p.m. on June 26. The victim was reportedly sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and received several stitches.

The then-46-year-old was arrested that same night and initially charged with second-degree attempted murder and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. In July, he reportedly pleaded not guilty to several other charges.

Santiago was sentenced to five years in state prison after pleading guilty to second-degree assault, the DA’s Office said on Wednesday. He will also be required to serve three years of post-release supervision…
